Once more DJ Sparrow rides out alone, and I’m doing my best to enjoy the solitude. Though, while you’re here come stick around and keep warm by the fire, the nights have been a touch colder this week. Tonight felt longer than it truly was, the quietness has been getting to me but I carry on. There is one upside of being left all on my lonesome though, and that’s that I get to play my favorite tunes without any pushback. After a quick message of changing times from Bob Dylan I moved to a more 70s sounds with songs from the Grateful Dead and America. After some discussion on which is better, At Folsom Prison or At San Quentin by Johnny Cash I tuned into some non-secular music by the likes of The Louvin Brothers and Doc Watson. I discussed Jimmie Rodgers storied history and jumped for joy at the fact that I was able to get the turntable repaired and working after a long struggle; celebrating with amy love of old, dusty and scratchy vinyl by playing such a copy of Blue Velvet by Bobby Vinton. Moving from that fact I talked for a bit about the new Ratboys album and how enamored I have been with it. At the Top of 11 I kept things slow with some Avett Brothers and John-Robert ending things off with a quick stop at Chinatown by Shakey Graves before pulling into Terrapin Station by the Grateful dead for a nice long holdover jam to round out the night. It’s been a fun one, but for now I have to keep traveling alone out on the lonesome plains. Attached is the playlist for tonight and I must say I’m proud of it. I hope to see you ’round the fire next time cowpoke, until then stay golden.
