EAST LANSING- Michigan State wrestling travels to the Maturi Pavilion to take on No. 9 Minnesota in a conference matchup. The Spartans have fallen short in their last two dual meets, with the most recent result, a loss to Rutgers 29-9. This brought their overall record down to 4-8 and 1-6 in the Big Ten.
The Minnesota Golden Gophers sit at No.9 nationally with their most recent victory coming against the Maryland Terrapins winning 37-6. The Golden Gophers current record sits at 10-5 overall and 4-3 in conference play.
Going into this dual meet, MSU must look for Minnesota’s 184-pound redshirt sophomore Max McEnelly, who is ranked No.4 in his weight class, picked up a win against Maryland by technical fall, 19-4. Other notable standouts on the team include 141-pound redshirt senior Vance VomBaur, who is ranked No.9 in his weight class, and 285-pound redshirt sophomore Koy Hopke, who is ranked No.10 in his weight class.
Spartans’ wrestling has their work cut out for them in this dual meet; however, that doesn’t mean they should be overlooked either. In the Green and White’s dual against Rutgers, 133-pound redshirt senior Andy Hampton made his presence known by winning 9-6 by decision. Redshirt junior heavyweight Josh Terrill has been an imposing force for the Spartans this season, picking up a win against Rutgers via disqualification.
MSU wrestling sits 23-36 all-time against the Golden Gophers and are on a current losing streak of 13. The last time these two faced off in a dual meet took place on January 15, 2023, resulting in a 21-11 loss for Michigan State.
MSU is eager to snap their 2-meet losing streak while the University of Minnesota wants to end their regular season off with a strong note.
The dual meet takes place on Sunday, Feb. 15, 2026, with a start time of 2 p.m. ET at Maturi Pavilion.
