EAST LANSING- The No. 16 Michigan State women’s soccer team will host its penultimate home match of the season, with kickoff Thursday evening against Indiana.
The Green and White defeated rival Michigan in a 1-0 shutout on Oct. 9; however, they fell to No. 7 Iowa 5-3 on Sunday.
Through Oct. 12, the Spartans’ schedule remains one of the toughest in the nation, yet they remain in the hunt for the Big Ten title and enter this match 7-3-5 overall.
The key player to watch for MSU will be Junior defender Renee Watson. Despite her outstanding role as a defender, the junior from Ontario has found the back of the net four times this season, one of which was the lone goal against Michigan last week. Watson is extremely versatile and poses a major threat to opposing teams.
The Hoosiers welcome first-year head coach Josh Rife, but have not yet won a road game this season. They enter this contest 4-4-6 overall.
Indiana sophomore midfielder Maggie Ledwith will continue to have all eyes on her. Currently leading the team with 5 goals and 3 assists, Ledwith is dominant in the midfield and should be someone to watch for on the pitch.
This will be the final regular season match under the lights at DeMartin Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and will be aired live on Big Ten Plus.
