“YOU HEARD THE SONG STRAIGHT, STRAIGHT OFF MY IPOD.”
On Feb. 24, 2026, Slayyyter released “OLD TECHNOLOGY,” the 5th single off her upcoming album WOR$T GIRL IN AMERICA, out on March 27. Slayyyter’s single run in anticipation of her new album has truly been one for the history books, each being a certified industrial-pop banger, and “OLD TECHNOLOGY” is no different.
Slayyyter wants the world to know that she’s living free and making the exact type of music she has always wanted to. While Slayyyter’s music has always been fun and hyper, the singles off WGIA$ are confrontational, bold and dirtier than ever.
“I want to make as crazy and as loud and as brash music as I can,” the musician said in an Apple Music interview with Zane Lowe.
The song opens with a simple instrumental that almost immediately explodes into a loud, exciting pop extravaganza. In “OLD TECHNOLOGY,” Slayyyter is cocky in her lyrics, confident in her delivery and completely unhinged in her production.
“I AM A GOD, YES SIR! /
KEEPIN’ MY MONEY STACKED UP ON THE DRESSER /
YOU COPY, PASTE THE VIBE, I NEVER CHASE THE VIBE.”
“OLD TECHNOLOGY” is a nostalgic track about partying and having fun. It is messy, eager, and the loud bass and disoriented industrial synths make you want to headbang until you pass out.
“I’M CRANKIN’ UP, OLD TECHNOLOGY, SH*T OUT OF LUCK /
WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME? /
I’M HAVING FUN TONIGHT.”
“OLD TECHNOLOGY” sounds like getting home at 3 a.m. with eyeliner and lipstick smeared across your face, and even though you can’t find your phone, it doesn’t matter because you had a good night. Slayyyter is challenging the modern-day ideals of being quiet, clean and reserved. She is encouraging us all to be the loudest, most adventurous versions of ourselves, a sentiment that is desperately needed right now.
Although Slayyyter’s music is without a doubt not for everyone, in my opinion, it represents a revival of personality and color in the world. With the current rise of conservatism, “clean girl aesthetic” and pilates culture, it is important now more than ever to have a pop girl be so unapologetically herself. Slayyyter is fearless in her creativity and wants people to get out of their houses, get up and dance.
With the singles, visuals and overall rollout, WOR$T GIRL IN AMERICA is shaping up to be one of the best albums of the year and is hands down my most anticipated. 2026 is the year of Slayyyter, and I’m not sure if the world is ready, but I am.
