EAST LANSING- Michigan State volleyball heads to Ohio this Sunday looking to take down conference rival Ohio State. 

The Spartans have struggled lately, currently on a three-game losing streak with the most recent loss being against No. 24 Penn State, falling short in three sets. MSU’s current record is now 18-9 overall and 8-9 in B1G Ten play.  

In Ohio State’s most recent match, they fell short to Northwestern in four sets. Like MSU, the Buckeyes are also on a three-game losing streak, looking to snap it against the Green and White. Ohio State’s record currently sits at 5-20 overall and 2-15 in the conference. 

Ohio State ranks near the bottom of the B1G Ten with a .118-win percentage making the Spartans the odds-on favorites win this match. However, MSU should still be cautious of Buckeyes junior outside hitter Hannah Jones who leads the team with 293 kills. 

Michigan State as a team though has the advantage in almost every single category, statistically including kills, aces, blocks, and digs.  

The Spartans and Buckeyes have a long history in volleyball with MSU having a 32-56 record against OSU all-time. Their last matchup occurred on November 3. 2024 with Ohio State taking the victory in 4 sets. Michigan State has come up short in the last 7 matches against Ohio State. 

This upcoming match both teams are looking to snap their losing streak of three games. Ohio State aims for an upset win over the Spartans looking to extend their all-time winning streak to eight. On the other hand, Michigan State hopes to rack up another win all-time against the Buckeyes and finish this match, and the remaining matches left this season on a strong note.
