EAST LANSING- Michigan State volleyball travels to Oregon this Sunday, looking to take down Oregon in this Big Ten matchup.
The Spartans have won the last two games , with the most recent victory being against the University of Washington, winning in four sets. This current winning streak has improved Michigan State’s record to 17-6 overall and 7-6 in conference play.
In the Oregon Ducks’ last match, they were able to knock off UCLA in 4 sets, making their current overall record 14-9 and 5-8 in Big Ten play.
Leading into this matchup, the Spartans must look out for the Ducks’ junior opposite hitter/outside hitter Valentina Vaulet, who has amassed 284 kills this season. Additionally, freshman outside hitter Alanah Clemente has made a real impact on Oregon’s offense this season with 270 kills, the second most on the team behind Vaulet.
Though Oregon has an impressive offense MSU from a team perspective going into this matchup. As a team, the Green and White have more kills, assists, aces, and digs than the opposing Oregon Ducks.
We also can’t fail to mention Spartans junior outside hitter Karolina Staniszewska leading MSU with 268 kills so far this season. Defensively Michigan State has junior defensive specialist Lia Schneider leads the Spartans in digs with 247.
The history between these two teams is very short, with Oregon having a 2-1 record over Michigan State all-time. The most recent matchup between these two occurred on Nov. 21, 2024, with the Ducks defeating the Spartans in 3 sets. A victory in this next meeting for MSU volleyball will allow them to tie the all-time record against Oregon at 2-2.
The game will be held this Sunday at Matthew Knight Arena with a start time of 4 p.m. ET.
