MSU wants you to judge the speed of harassment and discrimination investigations
MSU’s Office for Civil Rights and Title IX Education and Compliance released an online dashboard Wednesday that displays information about how long the university takes to conduct investigations, the type of conduct reported most frequently, and the status of open cases. University officials say giving the public access to that kind of data reflects MSU’s commitment to improving its processing times, which have been heavily criticized for their slow pace.
MSU Surplus Store kicks off Sustainability Month with Fall Fest
MSU’s Surplus Store and Recycling Center held Fall Fest from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday at the center. The event featured pumpkin carving, upcycle crafts, a clothing swap, tours of the recycling center and vermicompost hoophouse, tech takedown, and more. Many organizations had booths at the fest as well. The MSU Office of Sustainability invited attendees to partake in MSU trivia and give feedback on sustainability at MSU. The MSU Museum provided used materials to show the elements that go into making a cellphone, encouraging conversations about sustainability and mining.
MSU receives decommitment from four-star wide receiver Tyren Wortham
Four-star wide receiver Tyren Wortham has decommitted from Michigan State and decided to reopen his recruitment. MSU football’s recent losses have raised concerns not only from the fan base but also from recruits. That was made clear by Wortham’s decommitment on Monday morning. In the current college football landscape, it’s rare for coveted players to stick with their original commitments. One of the best ways to keep them is simple: winning — something MSU will look to get back to in the coming weeks.
Michigan State women’s tennis struggles at the Michigan State Classic
EAST LANSING– Over the weekend, Michigan State women’s tennis hosted the Michigan State Classic presented by Auto Owner’s Insurance. The classic was hosted at the MSU Outdoor Rec. Tennis Courts, right off of Wilson Road. Visiting teams were DePaul University, University of Michigan, Northwestern University, and Western Michigan University. The rounds started with doubles on Friday, lasting through the afternoon until singles started at 1:30 p.m. On Friday, senior Issey Purser and freshman Nina Plihal defeated a WMU duo; however, they were defeated by a team from Michigan in the second set.
