LANSING – Current Lansing mayor Andy Schor announced his intentions to run for a second term as mayor of Lansing on March 3. Today, Schor received an endorsement from Gregory Eaton. Eaton is a local business owner who grew up in Lansing and is extremely prominent in the community.

“Mayor Schor is about as quality of a man as you can get. He loves his city, he loves helping people, and he does a good job at it,” Eaton said. “I’m supporting Mayor Schor in 2021 because he is committed to making sure small businesses like mine thrive and that Lansing as a city can continue to make progress.”

Eaton owns Gregory’s Soul Food on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Lansing. He has owned and operated the restaurant since 1971.

On top of being a businessman, Eaton has been heavily involved with politics since he was a young man. At the age of 24, he began lobbying. Eaton was a partner with the Karoub Associates lobbying firm in Lansing but has since retired. He is now a consultant with the firm.

“I am grateful for the endorsement of my friend Greg, as I know how impactful he’s been in the lives of so many in Lansing. His commitment to doing the right thing, his life-long value for hard work, and his passion for helping others is something to strive for every day,” Schor said. “As Mayor, I’ve worked closely with the Lansing Chamber of Commerce to ensure local businesses, like Gregory’s Soul Food, can succeed and have a seat at the table.”

Schor has partnered with the Lansing Economic Development Corporation to offer $400,000 in grants for businesses in need of help and is also working with the Lansing Economic Area Partnership to gather an additional $2.5 million for local businesses.

The primary election for mayor will be held on Aug. 3, 2021, and the general election will be on Nov. 2, 2021. Schor is expected to face off against former three-term Lansing mayor Virg Bernero.
