EAST LANSING— The weekly women’s basketball AP poll rankings are out, and for the second consecutive week, MSU did not appear in the Top 25.  The Spartans have not played since their Jan. 10 home loss to Nebraska as they are currently dealing with COVID-19 issues within the program. The coronavirus forced MSU to cancel scheduled games against Illinois and No. 11 Michigan.

The Spartans were ranked No. 23 two weeks ago, but they fell out of the rankings after consecutive home losses to then No. 12 Maryland 93-87 and the Cornhuskers.

The full poll can be found below:

1. Louisville (12-0)

2. NC State (10-0)

3. UConn (7-0)

The Big Ten has five teams in this week’s AP rankings, and No. 7 Maryland is the highest-ranked Big Ten team. Nebraska remains unranked but received nine votes.

The Spartans have not played since their Jan. 10 home loss to Nebraska. They are currently dealing with COVID-19 issues within the program.

MSU is scheduled to host No. 16 Indiana on Jan. 21 at 6 p.m. There also will be an attempt by the Big Ten to reschedule the two meetings that the Spartans postponed.
