EAST LANSING- From Nov. 26 to Dec. 2, Michigan State conducted 26 COVID-19 PCR tests on both student-athletes and athletic department staff members. Out of the 20 student-athletes who were tested, only one individual tested positive. No staff members tested positive for COVID-19 during the latest round of testing.

Student-athletes and staff who are involved with football, men’s and women’s basketball and hockey are currently participating in the Big Ten’s daily antigen testing program.

For individual(s) who tested positive, daily check-ins with athletic training staff will continue while the individuals remain in isolation, with additional services provided as directed by the medical and administrative staff. Further testing and physician follow-up will be required prior to returning to any level of workouts.

With the encouraging results, Michigan State will continue through with their previously scheduled games in football, basketball and hockey.

Since testing began for this year, Michigan State Athletics has conducted over 3,000 COVID-19 clinical PCR tests on student-athletes and staff members. There have been over 2,600 tests on student-athletes, with 172 positive results.

Thirteen staff members have also tested positive for the virus since the testing program began in mid-June.

Complete testing results can be found on the Michigan State COVID-19 dashboard portal.
