Michigan State Athletics along with MSU Vote, the Michigan Department of State, and local election officials hosted a Voter Registration Rally last night in celebration of National Voter Registration Day.
The rally kicked off with a speech from MSU men’s basketball Head Coach Tom Izzo followed by Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson addressing registration and voting basics.
After a short standoff, a vehicle theft suspect was taken into custody Monday by Ingham County Sheriff’s Department with assistance from Michigan State University Police Department.
The suspect approached the stolen vehicle on a bicycle and stole it while the owner was inside a business on Okemos Road.
The suspect began traveling on westbound I-96 until he caused an accident with another vehicle. The suspect then fled on foot, causing officers to set a perimeter of the area and conducted a K-9 track.
The suspect, a 32 year-old man from Otsego, Michigan, was located by deputies hiding in a pond near the Dunckel Road exit and is in police custody.
Michigan State Residential and Hospitality Services student employees were notified Monday that they would be placed on a leave beginning Oct. 4.
This notification was sent out to more than 700 RHS student team members, giving those furloughed a short 12-day notice.
Student members will remain active as RHS employees, however, RHS does not have an expected return date at this time.
