EAST LANSING, MI.— No. 11 Michigan State Women’s gymnastics is taking on No. 21 Ohio State on Saturday, Feb. 21, at 6 p.m. right at home, at Jenison Fieldhouse in East Lansing. The Spartans are coming off a win on Sunday’s tri-meet against No. 25 Maryland and Western Michigan, totaling 197.250 points.
MSU is now 5-4 overall and 3-2 in the Big Ten, as the Green and White set season high scores in two events on Sunday: bars with 49.350 and floor with 49.575.
Some outstanding gymnasts were senior Nikki Smith and junior Makayla Tucker, who tied each other for the all-around title with scores of 39.500. As well as senior Sage Kellerman, who was once again named the Big Ten Specialist of the week, the second time this season, and eighth in her career. She is currently ranked 10th on bars in the NCAA.
Smith and Kellerman started off the match with 9.900s on vault, sharing the vault title, and earning a season-high for Smith. Kellerman took the bars title with a season-high tying score of 9.925, with Smith coming in second with another season-high of 9.900.

Tucker and freshman Lilia Cosman tied for third with 9.850s, while junior Kendall Abney took up fourth place with a career-high of 9.825. Tucker shared the beam title with Maryland’s Madeline Komoroski with a 9.875. Freshman Korynne Marquart, Tucker and Smith all tied Maryland’s Aine Reade for the floor title with 9.925s.
The Ohio State Buckeyes are coming off a loss to the Washington Huskies last Saturday. Some notable gymnasts are senior Tory Vetter, sophomore JJ Coleman and junior Courtney McCann.
Vetter earned the all-around title with a score of 39.300, making it her fourth all-around title of the season. Coleman got a career-high score of 9.950 on floor, taking her fourth floor title of the season. While McCann shared the beam title with a score of 9.900. The Buckeyes are now 3-3 overall and 3-2 in the Big Ten.
The Spartans are aiming for a fourth straight victory over the Buckeyes at home in the Jenison Field House. Not only will it be the final conference home meet of the season, but also the annual Breast Cancer Awareness meet. This meet will take place on Saturday, Feb. 21 at 6 p.m. It can be streamed on Big Ten Plus.
