With 2010 being over a decade ago, we can reminisce over the release of the iconic Isles and Glaciers “Cemetery Weather” from the hidden gem EP The Hearts of Lonely People. The post-hardcore supergroup band, formed in 2008, consists of Vic Fuentes and Mike Fuentes from Pierce the Veil, Jonny Craig (best known for his vocals from Dance Gavin Dance), Craig Owens and Matt Goddard from Chiodos, Nick Martin from Sleeping with Sirens and Brian Southall. It was a short-lived experiment that only lasted from 2008 to 2010. Most of the members had bigger commitments to their full-time bands, thus it was broken off, and we are left with 7 beautifully produced tracks.
“Cemetery Weather,” the closing track, stands out in particular. The three vocalists, Vic Fuentes, Jonny Craig and Craig Owens, take turns singing and blend their angelic voices to create a beautiful, catchy and melancholic melody. The emotionally dramatic tune touches on the feeling of a forever-lasting love, with commitment so strong that they end up growing old together, and when they pass, being buried next to each other with not even death separating them.
“I need somebody (somebody)
Somebody crazy enough to tell me /
‘I will love you until we..’ /
(I will love you until..) /
Until we are buried /
Our bodies (our bodies) /
Our bodies buried close together /
Cemetery weather /
In the cemetery weather.”
