EAST LANSING– Michigan State men’s basketball is set for a storied rivalry matchup against the Indiana Hoosiers on Tuesday evening at the Breslin Center.
The Spartans enter 4-1 in Big Ten play with a lone loss to Nebraska. The Hoosiers are also coming off a loss to the Cornhuskers, after a second-half collapse at Assembly Hall on Saturday.
The Hoosiers have begun a rebuild from the underwhelming Mike Woodson era to Darian Devries, whom the Hoosiers faithful hope will lead to a Cignetti-like turnaround for their historic program.
Hoosiers guard Lamar Wilkinson is a lights out shooter from long-range. Earlier in the season against Penn State, Wilkinson caught fire, he scored a career-high 44 points with 10-made three-pointers.
Big Ten guards have had some tough outings against the Spartans this season. Iowa standout Bennett Stirtz was held to 14 points on 4-of-10 shooting on Dec. 2 and Penn State guard Kayden Mingo was 5-for-13 on Dec. 13.
This would be a Quad 1 victory for Michigan State as Indiana is on the fringe of Quad 1, ranked No. 35 in the NET Rankings. The Spartans have slid down to No. 14 in NET rankings.
Michigan State finds itself ranked No.12 in the most recent AP Top 25 poll, and Indiana is 0-2 on the season when facing ranked teams this season.
The Spartans are 3-0 against Big Ten opponents at the Breslin Center this season and 13-1 over the past two seasons, with the only loss coming at the hands of the Hoosiers on Feb. 11, 2025.
The Spartans are a game back of first place in the Big Ten standings, behind Nebraska and Purdue. They are tied for third place with Illinois and Michigan, after the 40-0 campaign died over the weekend.
A win for the Spartans would provide some positive momentum before their second-ever Big Ten West Coast swing. Last year, MSU struggled when it visited conference newcomers, going 0-2 against the Los Angeles squads.
Tip-off for Indiana vs Michigan State is scheduled for 7 p.m. and catch the radio broadcast on Impact 89FM with Jack Stager and Joe Dez on the call.
