Masaki Takahashi is the host of 517 Poetry Room’s slams and open mics — but he’s been inspired by the rising young voices he hears in his community to host a new event. The Native Child Youth Slam will be held on April 25th, offering a $500 grand prize and a title belt.
WDBM’s Liam Clymer spoke with Takahashi, gathering insight into the inspirations for the event, how the Poetry Room connects with local high schools and the good it’s doing for the next generation of poets in the city.
