EAST LANSING- This week’s Big Ten Freshman of the Week is none other than volleyball setter Malayah Long.
Starting her collegiate career at Marquette University, she soon found her place here at Michigan State University, stepping into her role as starting setter; she is a redshirt freshman for the 2025 season.
Proudly wearing the number seven jersey, she is quickly proving herself as a star under the bright lights of the powerful Big Ten Conference.
Leading the Michigan State Spartans to a record of 14-2 thus far, she continues to impress fans and coaches at MSU.
Just last week she helped rally to a 3-2 win against the University of Iowa, recording a near-career-high 54 assists.
As for her first season, she is ranked third in the conference in total assists, setting a staggering 617 of them in the 2025 season.
With momentum rolling from their recent 3-0 sweep against the No. 20 Indiana Hoosiers, Long and her Spartan teammates will play host to No. 1 Nebraska on Friday, Oct. 17 at 7 p.m. MSU will be seeking its second-ranked win of the season; in a game you do not want to miss.
