EAST LANSING- Michigan State volleyball hosts the
Iowa Hawkeyes at the Breslin Center on Friday.
MSU enters off a narrow loss against Illinois after dropping the final set. This loss dropped their record to 12-2 overall and 2-2 in Big Ten play.
MSU has the advantage in terms of record, with
Iowa being 10-6 and 1-3 in B1G Ten. Additionally, the Green and
White are undefeated at home with a 6-0 record.
Despite Iowa’s current losing streak, they aren’t a team to
take lightly going into Friday’s game. This season the Hawkeyes have
more kills, assists and digs than the opposing Spartans.
Iowa must be cautious of Spartans junior outside hitter Karolina Staniszewska who leads the team in kills with 151.
Michigan State junior defensive specialist Lia Schneider
leads the squad in digs with 142 and sophomore middle blocker Breccan Scheck is the team leader in blocks with 40.
Last time these two teams met was Nov. 17, 2024, with the
Spartans taking a 3-set victory. The University of Iowa is currently
looking to end two 3 game losing streaks going into this game. One
being for this current season and another one for the past three times
Iowa fell short to MSU. is looking to carry momentum from this
win into their conference matchup against No. 20 Indiana on Oct,
12.
The Spartans’ matchup against Iowa will be held at the Breslin Center on Friday with a start time of 7:30 p.m.
