“I don’t wanna make a scene /
But I will, oh I will”
Runo Plum explores that achy feeling during heartbreak, the desire to talk to your person again, and ignoring logic in hopes of speaking to them. In this short, two-minute song, drums and guitar support Plum’s soft vocals as she expresses how she will keep waiting for her ex-partner to reach out, even if they end up moving on instead. The strumming of the guitar pushes the lyrics deeper into your heart and encapsulates you into the instrumentals. It makes you wish it could last forever as you get trapped into the song. On top of the instruments, the lyrics express a feeling that several listeners can relate to, no matter their age.
“Will you turn the lamp back on /
Or leave it to your mom /
To be the one to reach out to me /
I don’t wanna make a scene”
Runo Plum expresses a familiar heartbreak many people, including several Michigan State students, have felt at least once in their lifetime. She is a talented artist who tackles many emotional topics in her music with an angelic singing voice and soft drums accompanying her.
Runo Plum released “Halfway Up The Lawn” on Sept. 23, 2025, along with “Sickness” and “Lemon Garland” as singles. These songs will be featured on her upcoming album, Patching, which will be released Nov. 14, 2025. I would recommend her songs to anyone who is a fan of Clairo or Phoebe Bridgers.
