HAIM was back on tour after 5 years, and this time playing in arenas. I had the chance to take a trip to Chicago and watch them perform in the biggest arena on their tour, the United Center. But let’s start with the show. Their opener, Dora Jar, was good but a tad off the wall. They are known as a bit weird in the ways they perform and interact with the crowd, and they lived up to that reputation in my eyes. They did try to get the crowd to participate, even though it seems that most people didn’t show up for the show until 5 minutes before HAIM even entered the stage, leaving the arena empty for Jar’s performance. I would say Dora did a pretty good job. She tried her hardest to interact with the small crowd that was there, screaming all the time, jumping around the stage giving a raging whimsical fairy movement on stage.

HAIM entered the stage around 9:40pm, opening with “Gone,” a song off their new album I quit. Entering with loud beats and flashing lights, giving all the energy back into the audience. They were interactive with the crowd, pointing at people getting up and close to the pit. The music was being performed well, and the energy inside the venue was good as well. One of the highlights from the show would be when they perform “My Song 5.” I am a huge fan of HAIM’s older music, and hearing this song was a showstopping moment. One of my favorite things about a live show is when the artists sound just like their studio versions. Overall, the show was amazing. While they did end late, around 11pm Chicago time, it was still one of my favorite shows at the United Center to date. If you have a chance to go see the HAIM Sisters on their “I Quit” Tour, then I would totally recommend it!
