EAST LANSING—Michigan State Track and Field will compete in the Simmons-Harvey Invitational in Ann Arbor this weekend. This will be the Spartans second straight weekend in Ann Arbor, as they competed last weekend in the Wolverine Invitational.
On the men’s side for MSU, senior Noah Sage and junior Alex Yon look to ride the momentum from last weekend into the Simmons-Harvey Invitational after both earned top-five finishes in the 600m. Sage earned first place in the 600m in the Wolverine Invitational crossing the line with a first-place time of 1:18.99. Yon earned fifth place in the 600m with a time of 1:22.87.
On the men’s side, other runners to watch this weekend include junior Timothy Cherry, junior Owen Gilbert, and sophomore Levi Maier. In the Wolverine Invitational, Cherry was one of three runners to break the meet record in the men’s 800m while Gilbert and Maier earned top-five finishes.
On the women’s side, the main events to watch are the field events. In the Wolverine Invitational, senior Valadian Pallett earned first place in the women’s weight throw with a best throw of 19.44m. Senior Janan Khalil and junior Eriana Hubbard earned top-four finishes with their best throws over 16m.
The shot put is another field event to watch for MSU. Freshman Rylan Finstrom earned her personal best throw of 14.21m in the Wolverine Invitational last weekend.
After just missing the podium in the Wolverine Invitational, Sophomore Liz Anderson is looking to build off her fourth-place finish in the 300m this weekend. Anderson crossed the line with a time of 40.35 last weekend in 300m.
The Spartans will compete in the Simmons-Harvey Invitational in Ann Arbor all day on Saturday before traveling out west to Allendale, MI for the GVSU Bob Eubanks Open at Grand Valley State University.
