I’m not going to go into my thoughts on the suckiness of this winter, as many other articles on the Impact website do ample work covering this — Ashe Burr’s recent winter mixtape covers this well.
Rather, I’m going a more personal route with the songs that held an iron grip on my listening history. Now, I love these songs with my entire heart but even I can admit they do not create a very positive space, minus Kimya Dawson’s “Tire Swing.” Ranging from a touch of folk to Midwest emo and skramz, this mixtape is a collection of songs that kept emotions raw while I was back at home in Cleveland.
