EAST LANSING- Michigan State’s Dominic Pianto and Brock Vradenburg collected two Big Ten weekly awards Tuesday afternoon. Vradenburg was named Player of the Week and Pianto was named Co-Pitcher of the Week, sharing the award with Iowa’s right-handed pitcher  Brody Brecht. 

This is the first time Pianto and Vradenburg have collected conference honors in their careers. 

Pianto entered the game against Fresno State throwing a very dominant 8.2 innings in his relief appearance, ringing up four strikeouts, giving up three hits, and one run, but no walks. During his 8.2 innings of work, he had five 1-2-3 innings.

Vradenburg batted 10-18 this past weekend in the MLB Desert invitational with seven runs scored, four  RBIs, a .722 slugging percentage and a .600 on-base percentage.

He had hits in all four games this weekend. 

Brecht pitched against the Quinnipiac Bobcats on Saturday facing 15 batters, retiring all of them raking up ten strikeouts in five innings pitched.  He had a  pitch count of 69 before turning the ball over to Zach Voelker to finish the game.

The 3-1 Spartans will head to South Carolina to play USC Upstate, Gardner-Webb and Presbyterian this weekend.
