EAST LANSING- Michigan State Field Hockey will look to rebound from Friday’s overtime loss to Rutgers as they welcome the Bellarmine Knights on Sunday. The Spartans come into this matchup with a 3-2 record on the season.

After winning their first three games of the season the Spartans have lost two straight games, one to Stanford in a shootout and a 3-2 outing to Rutgers in overtime.

The Spartans have struggled to finish games this season and will emphasize sharpness in their next games. So far this season the Spartans have been led by senior forward Hannah Jarvie and junior midfielder Emma O’Neill, who have recorded 3 goals this season.

MSU has also seen stellar performances by rising sophomore Ellie Rutherford, who has three goals this season. Rutherford’s best performance on the season came on August 28th when she recorded 2 goals in a 6-1 win over St. Louis.

The Spartans will continue to rely on Jarvie, O’Neill and Rutherford to have success as a team this season.

Bellarmine comes into this matchup with a 1-6 record on the season with their lone win coming against Central Michigan on Friday.

The Knights are led by senior forward Amber Hofenk Jermebo, who leads the Knights in goals scored through 7 games with 5. The Knights will need a quality performance from Hofenk Jermebo if they want to upset the Spartans.

Next weekend, the Spartans will have a two-game road trip against Penn State on Friday, Sept.23, and the Maryland Terrapins on Sunday, Sept.25.
