EAST LANSING, Mich—For the first time in over two months, Michigan State has nabbed a 2023 recruit.

On Sunday afternoon, three-star cornerback and Carrollwood Day product Eddie Pleasant III announced his commitment to MSU. He is the sixth commitment in the 2023 class and the first cornerback.

The announcement comes a day after the Spartans’ 2022 spring game.

247Sports rates Pleasant III as the No. 61 overall cornerback in the country with a composite rating of 0.8577. A native of Tampa Bay, he is also ranked as the No. 105 overall prospect in the state of Florida.

The 6-foot, 175-pound Pleasant III chose MSU over the likes of Penn State, Iowa, Tennessee, Utah, Georgia Tech, Florida State, Cincinnati, Vanderbilt and NC State. He is also the third-three star recruit that MSU has gotten in the 2023 class, alongside four-stars Andrew Depaepe, Kedrick Reescano and Brennan Parachek.

With the addition of Pleasant III, MSU’s 2023 class is rated as the No. 14 best in the country and the No. 4 best in the Big Ten by 247Sports. Out of the six commits, two are from Michigan, two from Texas, one from Iowa and Pleasant III from Florida.

The Spartans have made it a priority to add some young talent into the secondary, adding four-star in-state defensive backs Jaden Mangham and Dillon Tatum in the 2022 class. Pleasant III will only further a cornerback room that also brought in 2022 three-stars Ade Willie and Caleb Coley.
