I met Porter Robinson outside the Royal Oak Music Theater in October. He has been one of my favorite artists for a long time, so I was more than willing to wait with a small crowd outside his tour bus for an hour and a half after the show. The guy standing in front of me was a super typical EDM concertgoer — dressed only in an animal pelt and blasting dubstep from a concealed bluetooth speaker.
Porter was happy to see us, talked a bit about his show philosophy, and signed the back of my phone case with a sharpie.
Fun fact: I’ve never seen a guy look less comfortable taking pictures with fans.
