Jan. 23, 2026, marks the momentous day Harry Styles made his musical return after riding on his album of the year Grammy win for his junior album Harry’s House — with the first track release, Aperture, leading up to the release of his album Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally. Aperture encapsulates the euphoric feeling of being surrounded by symphonic beats blaring through speakers and the all-consuming feeling of community when you’re on the dance floor with others.
Unlike Styles’ other projects, Aperture’s techno and dance-pop-inspired turns are fueled with the backing of joyous noise and a sense of freeness. Previously from Styles’, we have received melancholy and poeticism from tracks such as “From the Dining Room Table” and ‘To Be so Lonely.” We have also heard pop and disco-centric classics from him, such as “Daydream” and “Treat People With Kindness.” “Aperture” is doing that and so much more.
As defined by Oxford dictionary, Aperture is “an opening, hole, or gap,” as well as “a space through which light passes in an optical or photographic instrument, especially the variable opening by which light enters a camera,” in which we can reference the significance of the title in the lyrics.

Styles muses in the pre-chorus, metaphorically speaking, it is clear that his intention with the song is to leave your worries behind you, let them sink into the hole of the unknown, and make way for the light shining on us now, allowing it to consume you with the love we share. Hence, the chorus to follow, “ we belong together, it finally appears it’s only love.” Love is the light, or in this case, the aperture. When we give ourselves the space to free ourselves from our worries and bask in the light of love, we realize we belong together.
Harry Styles, time and time again, has shown us his musical genius, and “Aperture” is nothing short of it. The song’s meaning, packed into the techno beat and echoing lyrics from Styles’s only further make us want to get up and dance along. “Aperture” is the perfect song to kick off what is already leading up to be a fantastical dance pop album, which we can soon all share, and continue to bask in the light that is Harry Styles music.
