EAST LANSING- Michigan State volleyball travels to the University of Washington this Friday, looking to seek a win over the Huskies.  

The Spartans are coming off a win against the Rutgers University Scarlet Knights, coming out on top in three sets. This victory improves their record to 16-6 overall and 6-6 in Big Ten play.  

The University of Washington in its most previous match, fell short to the UCLA Bruins in four sets, so they will be aiming to get back on the right track with a win over MSU. The Huskies overall record is 10-12 and 5-7 in conference play. 

Going into this match, Washington makes a strong case of having a defensive advantage over the Green and White. As a team, they have more blocks and digs than the opposing Spartans.  

However, the offensive end is where Michigan State will most likely thrive in this matchup with them having more kills and assists as a team throughout this season.  

A big part of MSU’s offense this season has been because of junior outside hitter Karolina Staniszewska and senior opposite hitter Evie Doezema. Together, this season the two have combined for a total of 440 kills, contributing much to Spartan’s offense.  

Additionally, redshirt freshman setter Malayah Long has been a core member offensively this season with 791 assists making her one of the most notable setters in the Big Ten. 

Washington hopes to make a statemen with a win here after suffering a previous loss while Michigan State attempts to start a winning streak knocking off the Huskies. 

The game will be held at the Alaska Airlines Arena at Hec Edmunson Pavillion with a start time of 10 p.m. ET.
