EAST LANSING- After capturing a 1-0 victory over Detroit Mercy on Monday, the Michigan State men’s soccer team travels to Bowling Green on Friday.
Monday’s win also marked MSU head coach Damon Rensing’s 150th career victory in his 17 seasons at MSU.
Freshman midfielder Luke Spadafora netted the game-winning goal, also marking his first goal as a member of the Spartans. On Tuesday, Spadafora was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week.
Redshirt senior goalkeeper Zach Kelly is the reigning Big Ten goalkeeper of the year. So far this season, Kelly has recorded two shutouts, bringing the total to 14.
Junior midfielder Miles Merritt will be another key player, as he has also found the back of the net this season, tying for first on the team.
Bowling Green comes off a 1-0 loss to Michigan on Monday and looks for redemption on its home turf against the Spartans.
Falcons’ senior forward Trace Terry was named the Missouri Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week. Terry recorded the first two goals in the Falcons’ 3-0 victory over Wright State on August 28.
The Spartans enter the match with a record of 2-1, while the Falcons sit at 1-2-1 on the season. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. on September 5 at Cochrane Stadium.
