Brendan Santo has been reported missing. Santo’s last sighting was reported on October 29th, leaving Yakeley Hall before midnight.

Santo was not a student here at MSU and was visiting friends. He was last seen wearing grey sweatpants, a black t-shirt with a black baseball hat, and converse shoes.

Searches have been coordinated on foot, by helicopter, drone, and boat. Every person Santo has last contacted has been interviewed.

MSU’s Endowment

MSU’s endowment is one of the least understood out of every university financial asset. The fund consists of donated money and reinvested returns.

The fund is a key indicator of MSU’s monetary worth. The endowment had a market value of $3.9 billion last June. Since then, the value had significantly increased by $2.2 billion within the last decade in 2011.

There were mighty returns for collegiate endowments nationwide since this year. In the fiscal year, MSU’s endowment return on investment was 41.7 percent.

Donations, which is the endowment itself, is invested in the MSU Common Investment Fund also known as the CIF.

CIF is a mutual fund with money tied to a number of investments that is managed by a staff of the MSU Board of Trustees.

MSU Chief Financial Officer Lisa Frace states that the majority of the endowment money is used for scholarships and professorship.

Michigan State Hockey vs. Ohio State

MSU’s hockey team faced its big ten opponent, Ohio State last weekend for the 2021-22 season.

The Spartans split the road series, securing a 2-1 victory Friday night and losing 5-1 Saturday afternoon.

Ohio State outshot Michigan State 42-17. MSU offense were hounded and Ohio State applied pressure in the offensive zone. MSU goalkeeper Drew DeRidder was a force to be reckoned in between the pipes allowing one goal for the night.

Ohio State crammed in shots and opportunities during the second period, although DeRidder and other MSU defenders kept the game tied up.

Within the last five minutes in the period a roughing call on the Buckeyes and an intervening call on the Spartans, sent a player to the box for each squad.

This resulted in two minutes of four-on-four hockey.

As the hockey team warms up for the first few weeks of the season, MSU is right in the middle of the Big Ten standing in fourth.

Things are getting more complicated with MSU in conference play. This weekend MSU is facing their rival Michigans’ Wolverines in a home away series.

As a result of multiple first round NHL picks and one of the most profound line-ups in NCAA hockey, Michigan could be MSU’s toughest test of the season.

The game begins at 7:30pm in Ann Arbor on Friday November 5th.
