LANSING— After conducting multiple animal welfare checks on a North Lansing residence, Ingham County Animal Control, in conjunction with select Potter Park Zoo staff members, seized over a dozen dogs and cats, in addition to various exotic reptiles and rodents from the premises on April 7.

As a result of the sudden influx of animals, the Ingham County Animal Control center is restricting cat surrenders until further notice. The temporary suspension is designed to give shelter staff adequate time to provide for the needs of the newly-admitted animals.

The shelter is currently accepting public donations of Purina One cat food as well as financial donations. Those wishing to donate food can drop it off at the animal shelter located in Mason; financial donations can also be made either in person or at this link.

The animal shelter is currently open from 10:30 a.m.-5 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday and 10:30 a.m.-6 p.m. on Wednesday. It is closed on Sunday.
