Mckenna Lounds

As we wrap up the year, we’re sharing some of our staff members’ favorite albums of the year. Here’s Mckenna Lounds’ list.

5. Tyler, The Creator – Call Me If You Get Lost

Need I explain? I think it’s safe to say you’re all in the know for this one (or that someone else will have something intelligent to say about this album on their own list).

4. Jazmine Sullivan – Heaux Tales

Technically an EP. A sexy one at that! I think this project is exactly what ‘Trying Not To Cry Because Your Makeup Looks Too Good For That’ sounds like.

3. John Glacier – SHILOH: Lost For Words

Vegyn production, exciting sounds, intimate lyricism– This album is too cool. We’re not worthy of music like this. Some standout tracks are ‘If Anything’, ‘Some Other Thing’, and ‘Boozy’.

2. Wiki – Half God

He completely nails self-reflection and storytelling. Hypnotic rhythms, satisfying flows. Earl Sweatshirt’s feature on ‘All I Need’ is a treat. In a word, this album is SMART. And Navy Blue’s production murders.

1. MIKE – Disco!

If you haven’t listened to the gorgeously self-produced Disco!, drop whatever you’re doing now. MIKE explores heavy personal matter but remains hopeful along the way. It’s a refreshing way to experience gloom and doom. Allow this album to enter your life.
