EAST LANSING — The Michigan State Spartans Volleyball team postponed its upcoming weekend series against Northwestern Sunday due to COVID-19 complications within the Spartans program. The Spartans were scheduled to play two road games in Evanston at Welsh-Ryan arena.

This will be the Spartans’ second straight weekend having a series postponed, after the Illinois series that was scheduled for Feb. 27 and 28 was postponed as well. The Spartans are currently 2-7, with eight more scheduled games left in the season. Barring postponement, the Spartans will have four more home games and four more road games before the season ends. Michigan State is currently tied for seventh place in the Big Ten with Illinois and Michigan.

Michigan State and Northwestern will work with the Big Ten to determine rescheduling options. Rescheduling all postponed games would have the Spartans playing 13 games between March 13 and April 2. The Spartans are next scheduled to play a weekend road series against Purdue on March 13 and 14 at Holloway Gymnasium.
