Monday’s luminary lighting decoration began a week of healing for MSU students

On Monday Feb. 12, Michigan State University students came together to decorate paper bags for a luminary lighting. This activity started off a week of events that promoted healing and remembrance for MSU students as they processed the one year anniversary of the Feb. 13 tragedy. These events were organized by ASMSU, MSU’s March For Our Lives, Students Demand Action and Sit Down Michigan State.

The event, which took place in the Gilbert Pavilion in the Breslin Center, was an opportunity for togetherness and interaction as students processed an array of emotions that came with this week. The bags decorated were made for plastic tealight candles that glowed Spartan green to go inside. Students carried and placed these light displays around campus to honor the victims of last year’s shooting and show support for the Spartan community.
