The Spartans got their first Big Ten win by way of defeating Indiana, 18-16 last Sunday in Hoosier country. The meet came down to the final match with the Spartans trailing the Hoosiers, 15-16. Garth Yenter sealed the victory for the Spartans with a season defining 10-3 decision victory.

Spartan Seniors Strive for Strong Showing

Michigan State’s wrestling squad will wrap up the home season Friday against Olivet College at noon.

The Spartans (6-10 overall, 1-7 Big Ten) finished their Big Ten season on a high note with a victory in at Indiana (8-8-1, 0-3) last Sunday thanks to a huge win from Garth Yenter at 133 pounds.

Michigan State Wrestlers Gets First Big Ten Win

Michigan State’s wrestling team got their first Big Ten victory in the last conference match of the year against the Indiana Hoosiers on Sunday.

This is was a huge win for the Spartans and head coach Tom Minkel who have strived for their first Big Ten victory all year. Both squads were searching for the elusive Big Ten win going into the dual.

Wrestling Closes out Big Ten Season on the Road

Michigan State’s wrestling team looks to close out the Big Ten dual season on a high note this weekend.

The Spartans (5-9, 0-6) will go up against No. 13 Ohio State (8-4, 3-4) on Friday and Indiana (8-8-1, 0-3) on Sunday. The Friday dual is being hosted by OSU at Massillon Perry High School in Massillon, Ohio at 7 p.m. On Sunday, MSU heads to Bloomington, Ind. to take on the Hoosiers at 2 p.m.

Nittany Lions Roar in Spartan Country

It was a difficult Friday night in East Lansing. The Michigan State Spartan wrestling team went up against the top-ranked Penn State Nittany Lions and hoped for a different result than last week with No. 15 Illinois at home.

Michigan State’s wrestling team (5-8 overall, 0-5 Big Ten) play host to the No. 1 ranked Penn State Nittany Lions (11-0, 5-0) on Friday.

The Spartans are coming off a home loss to No. 15 Illinois on Sunday and are looking to gain their first victory in the Big Ten.

Spartans Fall to Illini and Wolverines in Busy Weekend

Michigan State’s wrestling team came into this weekend with two matches versus two top squads.

On Friday, the Spartans ventured into the hostile territory of Ann Arbor, Mich. and faced off against the No. 12 Wolverines of the University of Michigan. The Spartans ended up losing the match by a score of 26-6, however they got two notable victories at 197 and 285 pounds.

Wrestling Prepares for Big Weekend against Michigan and Illinois

The Spartan wrestling team kicks off a busy weekend with matches against No. 12 Michigan in Ann Arbor, Mich., at 7 p.m. tonight, followed by a home dual Sunday against No. 15 Illinois.

The Spartans (5-6, 0-3) are coming off a home loss to then No. 2 Minnesota last Friday. Michigan (7-2, 3-0) upset the Gophers in Ann Arbor, 19-14, last Sunday.

Spartans Drop to Giddy Gophers

The Michigan State wrestling team came into Jenison Field House after almost a month-long rest looking to put a 41-0 shutout by Iowa behind them. The Spartans came into the meet versus the No.2 Minnesota Golden Gophers, hoping for a different result this time. Unfortunately, the Gophers had a different idea.
