Pistons Hit Rough Stretch, Drop Five of Six

23-34 is not usually the record of a team in playoff contention.

Through a coach firing, bricks galore and a horrible conference, the Detroit Pistons miraculously find themselves four games out of the playoffs with 25 games remaining. Their recent 1-5 stretch has not helped their chances, but with no one wanting to make the playoffs in the Eastern Conference, Detroit is in prime position to screw up yet another season.

Pistons Struggle as Other Teams Improve

Throughout the last few years, the Charlotte Bobcats have easily been one of the most disappointing teams in the NBA. With Michael Jordan working in the front office, one would think that the team would do better.

While Charlotte has had flurries of hope over the last five years, including a playoff appearance in the 2009-10 season, the following seasons at or near the bottom of the East is not the turnaround the franchise hoped for.

Opinion: State of the Pistons

While their history may be legendary, the past few years for the Detroit Pistons’ basketball organization have been the complete opposite.

The Good, Bad, and Ugly of Joe Dumars

Since Joe Dumars was hired to be the General Manager of the Detroit Pistons, the former all-star has made some “interesting” moves. Some contributed to the 2004 championship win, others contributed to the franchise’s demise. Now Joe’s seat is getting warmer and warmer, and this season could make or break his chances of having a job in June. Read More…

Opinion: Dumars Still The Man?

A defining story of the Detroit Pistons, since their last NBA championship win in 2004, is the big team that just could not get it done. In 2005 during the Pistons’ last championship appearance, Detroit had its shot at first back-to-back wins since the ‘Bad Boy’ era 1989-90 victories. In following years, Detroit’s success declined to mere conference championships until 2009, when it scraped together an No. 8 seed bid in the playoffs. Read More…
