Buckeyes Bounce Spartans from Big Ten Tournament

Despite going blow-for-blow against the No. 2 ranked team in the country, No. 1 seed Ohio State edged out the No. 8 seed Michigan State men’s tennis team 4-2 in the Big Ten tournament quarterfinals held in East Lansing, Mich.

The loss brings the Spartans’ final record to 12-14 and their home record to 11-2, with both losses coming to the Buckeyes.

Friday’s match was moved to the Indoor Facility after rain soaked the area.

Ohio State swept the doubles point and won three of the five singles matches with the Aaron Pfister-Ralf Steinbach match going unfinished because they clinched the victory before the conclusion.

Underclassmen John Patrick Mullane and Brett Forman brought home wins for the Spartans in singles competition.

Mullane defeated Ohio State’s Herkko Pollanen 6-4, 6-2. While Forman bested Chris Diaz 6-4, 6-1.
