Octopi Hockeytown Special Episode: Potential Effects of Sochi and the Impact of Losing Zetterberg

On this week’s edition of Octopi Hockeytown, Austin Goodman breaks down the Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia, including the performances of each Red Wing Olympian.

Ten Red Wings went into Sochi, but only nine are still competing after the captain of Sweden and Detroit the Red Wings, Henrik Zetterberg, went down with a reoccurring herniated disk in his back that could land him on the bench missing the rest of the NHL season.

After analyzing the Red Wings, Octopi brings it to the big picture and takes a look at the potential medalists and the team’s that just have not quite been able to make a statement in the tournament.

Alongside the Olympians, the rest of the Detroit organization is enjoying a two-week vacation, spending time with both family and friends. Austin will take an inside look at the vacation locations for selected Red Wings and the potential effects of such a lengthy break in the middle of the regular season.
