The Undercurrent – 9/15/19 – S12E3 – Outside

This week on The Undercurrent, we head Outside. First reporter Taylor Haelterman talked to street artist Samskee at the Below the Stacks festival in Lansing. Then another piece by Taylor from the Climate Strike on the steps of the Capital Building. Finally reporter Nick Saba put together a creative piece honoring a very special day of the year September 21st.

Sophie is a senior at Michigan State majoring in social relations and policy and minoring in documentary production. She has been at The Impact in one way or another since 2016. Her current position is News Director and host of the Undercurrent, WDBM's weekly news and storytelling podcast.

Taylor is a senior journalism major with a concentration in writing and editing and a minor in media photography. She is also currently pursuing her masters in environmental and science journalism. Taylor hosts the weekly audio narrative podcast “The Undercurrent,” and leads the news department helping the team to produce written and audio content centered around the MSU, East Lansing and Lansing communities.

I am a junior biosystems engineer here at MSU. I was a volunteer at the Impact for 2 years before becoming the Undercurrent producer. I now hope to create interesting and topical stories to share with everyone around Michigan State.
