Spartans take on the Hoosiers Saturday at the Breslin Center

No. 6 Michigan State will face Indiana Saturday at the Breslin Center, tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.

The Spartans have won 13 of their last 14 games and are 18-3 overall, including a 9-1 mark in the Big Ten conference.

The Hoosiers are 12-9 overall and 3-7 in the Big Ten. January 2018 was the last time these teams faced off, the Spartans were challenged on the road but managed to prevail 63-60.

The Spartans are coming off a road loss against Purdue this past Sunday. With Joshua Langford officially out for the season with a “stress injury” in his left ankle, MSU will look to the bench this Saturday.

Tom Izzo talked about Langford’s strength in an unfortunate circumstance.

“I said to him the other day, ‘You hanging in there man?’,” Izzo said. “’Coach I’m good, quit worrying about me, think about the team’…I am appreciative of the growth he’s had as a leader, how he’s handled players, how he’s handled coaches, and mostly how he’s been to me.”

Headed into the game Saturday, a captain short, the Spartans will need to look out for Romeo Langford and Juwan Morgan, as they lead the Hoosiers in scoring this season.

6-foot-6 Langford averages 17.3 points per game while 6-foot-8 forward Morgan averages 16.4 points per game.

In order to win, the Spartans will need to limit the number of turnovers they allow. MSU ended its last two games with 19 turnovers against Iowa and 12 at Purdue.

“We do feel good about being 9-1 at the break,” Izzo said. “[I] do feel good about where this team has come offensively and defensively for the year. I think there’s been a little bit of a letdown here offensively because of two key 3-point shooters missing, but we’re going to try and work some things out this week as far as doing a better job on that.”
