Spartans Run over Musketeers

The Michigan State men’s tennis team defeated Xavier, 6-1.

The Spartans (5-5) snapped a two-game losing streak and remained undefeated at home this season. Michigan State swept doubles play, with their lone loss coming in singles competition.

Junior Harry Jadun grinded out a victory against Xavier’s Jeremy Schneider: 7-6 (1), 7-5.

“Staying patient” was important, Jadun said. He has an overall record of 10-9 on the season.

Sophomore John Patrick Mullane defeated Matt Bishop, who he played against in juniors before attending Michigan State.

“I brought my A game today,” Mullane said. “We really needed to get this one.”

The Spartans open up Big Ten play next Friday in Ann Arbor  against the Michigan Wolverines. MSU lost to Michigan last year, 4-3.

“They’re our rival,” Mullane said about next week’s opponent. ”I’m a Michigan kid, I come from a family of Spartans, this means a lot to me.”
