Michigan State’s men’s tennis team travels to Lexington, Ky. to take on No. 17 Kentucky on Sunday.

The Spartans (4-3) swept a home doubleheader last week, 7-0, against Ball State and Eastern Illinois.

The Wildcats (5-3) were upset by Ohio State, 4-0 on Thursday and will host a day-night doubleheader against MSU and Wright State on Sunday.

“This is definitely a measuring stick game for our team,” MSU head coach Gene Orlando said. “The SEC is one of the best conferences in tennis.”

Michigan State has some familiarity with the SEC after facing the Tennessee Volunteers in January, in which the Spartans lost the match 4-1.

The Spartans are led in singles competition by freshman Brett Forman and senior Aaron Pfister.

Forman is 10-4 on the season and is on a six-game singles competition-winning streak. Forman breezed through the opposition last week only dropping one set against Eastern Illinois.

Pfister is 10-7 on the season and has won his last two matches.

The Spartans’ best doubles team has been the combo of senior Drew Lied and sophomore John Patrick Mullane. The tag team is 5-3 on the season and is on a two-game winning streak.

Redshirt senior Will Davis is from Louisville, Ky. and has some hitting buddies on the Wildcats team.

“There will definitely be some added motivation,” Davis said.

First serve will be Sunday at 1 p.m.
