Octopi Hockeytown – #2 – 2/5/14

So far, it has been interesting.

The Detroit Red Wings are fifth in the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference with 62 points in 56 games. They are currently in the last playoff spot of the regular season if the season were to end today. Austin talks about the Wings’ solid play that has helped them wind up in a spot where they can still compete to keep their playoff streak alive.

They go into their last two games before Sochi starting Thursday, against the Florida Panthers, and finishing up Friday against Tampa Bay. Austin Goodman breaks down past week’s play against Philadelphia, Washington and Vancouver.

Pavel Datsyuk will be back in the lineup for the first time since New Year’s Day when the Red Wings faced off against the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2014 Bridgestone Winter Classic. He will be playing with Daniel Alfredsson and Darren Helm in his debut on Thursday against the Panthers.
