Laugh Till I Cry | The Front Bottoms

Laugh+Till+I+Cry+%7C+The+Front+Bottoms

The Front Bottoms are masters at crafting incredibly depressing songs that are somehow fun to sing along to. This dichotomy is perhaps best represented on “Laugh Till I Cry,” a standout from their latest album, Back on Top.

The catchy melody accompanies a story of a heartbroken lover who realizes, just a little too late, how different he is from his significant other. A spiral of emotional turmoil ensues, as the narrator comes to grips with his absurd romantic situation. Neither of them are happy anymore, but what are they to do next? The only answer is to sing about it. Or laugh about it, I suppose.

As we all can attest, the honeymoon stage never lasts long. Happiness is temporary. The party is over, and it’s time to go.
