Jam of the Day: “Silhouettes”

Viet Cong released their self-titled LP earlier this year on January 20th, and along with it came this powerful single, “Silhouettes”. Viet Cong bears a strikingly similar sound to one of the most influential post-punk bands of the past 30 years, Joy Division – noisy guitars, propulsive bass-lines, vigorous drumming, and chilling synthesizers. Despite the clear and uncanny resemblances, Viet Cong manages to carve their way through the mix and create a unique sound, producing one of my favorite records of the year so far.
