EAST LANSING— Former Grand Valley forward Ava Cook isn’t the only newcomer headed to East Lansing.

Mere hours after Cook announced her decision to transfer to Michigan State, former Central Michigan forward Lauren DeBeau announced that she would also be transferring to MSU. DeBeau, an incoming junior, was named to the MAC All-Freshman Team in 2019 after starting in 16 games and finishing second on the team with four goals and nine points. She also led the Chippewas in shots on goal in 2019 with 56.

DeBeau had a quiet sophomore campaign, as she started in seven games and scored only one point despite finishing third on the team with 23 shots. Regardless, her ability to cycle shots towards the net will serve as a huge bonus for a Spartan club that has won only two conference games since 2019 and scored less than two goals in 10 out of its 12 games during the 2020-21 season.

DeBeau spent her high school career at Utica Eisenhower where she was a two-time MHSAA All-State selection and scored 63 goals and notched 41 assists during her freshman through junior years of high school.
