On Saturday evening, three-star safety Quavian Carter (Leesburg, Georgia) announced his commitment to MSU. He is the sixth overall recruit and second safety commitment from Georgia within the 2022 recruiting class. Buford native Malik Spencer previously committed to MSU on March 22.
Offensive guard Kristian Phillips, the first commitment in the 2022 class, also hails from Georgia.
Carter, who is currently in East Lansing for an official visit, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 61 overall recruit in Georgia and the No. 37 overall safety prospect within the 2022 recruiting class.
In addition to being offered by MSU, the 6-foot-4, 200-pound Carter held offers from schools such as Michigan, Clemson, Tennessee, Georgia Tech, Ole Miss, Florida State, Penn State, Cincinnati, Kansas State, Boston College, Vanderbilt and Louisville.
With the addition of Carter, MSU’s 2022 recruiting class, composed of all three-stars, is rated as the 32nd-best in the nation and the seventh-best in the Big Ten by 247Sports.
Currently, the six commitments in the 2022 class include Carter, Spencer, Phillips, Arizona offensive lineman Gavin Broscious and Michigan recruits Tyrell Henry (Roseville) and Ashton Lepo (Grand Haven).
