Opinion: Branden Dawson is the Spartans’ X-Factor

Branden Dawson’s freshmen season ended during the final regular season game of the year versus Ohio State, when he tore his left anterior cruciate ligament. That injury changed the trajectory of Dawson’s career. Instead of spending the summer of his sophomore year developing his game or possibly preparing for his rookie season in the NBA, he was forced to rehab his knee.

Unpleasing Second-Straight Win

MSU Hockey and head coach Tom Anastos had one mission in mind going into Halloween weekend.

 “Win tonight, win Sunday, and hopefully that will satisfy their Halloween desires,” said Anastos of his team.

MSU Qualifies for Quidditch World Cup

The Spartan Spitfires traveled to Rockford Illinois to compete in the Midwest Regional Cup this past weekend and had a tremendous outing.  MSU Quidditch went undefeated in pool play, and made it to the semi-finals in the tournament of 26 teams.  After a win over Miami (OH) in bracket play, MSU officially qualified for World Cup VII. Tatar and Wings Slip past Canucks

The Detroit Red Wings four game losing stint has come to a close. With a showcase of talents from newbies and veterans alike, the Wings took a win on Wednesday, 2-1, over the Canucks in Vancouver.

Spartans Smoke Lakers in Exhibition Opener

Michigan State basketball won their first exhibition game of the 2013-2014 season, 101-52, against the Grand Valley State Lakers Tuesday night at the Breslin Center.

Led by Keith Appling’s 17 points, the Spartans used their superior shooting and size to dominate the Lakers. MSU shot nearly 62 percent from the field and 58 percent from three point. Read More…

Twitter Reaction to Week 8 #DALvsDET

The Detroit Lions won 31-30 in a thriller on Sunday, as Matthew Stafford literally sneaked into the end zone with 12 seconds remaining.

Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant created a great deal of hype leading up to the game, claiming that he was better than Calvin Johnson. Bryant certainly had Twitter blowing up after a long touchdown reception, following his sideline temper-tantrum. Read More…
