Could GR3 Play for Detroit?

With the 38th pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, the Detroit Pistons select…Glenn Robinson III?

What at once might have seemed like an impossible feat, the Pistons now might have a legitimate chance at taking the Michigan forward with their only pick in the upcoming draft on June 26.

Robinson III was once considered a lock to be a lottery pick, but after an underwhelming sophomore season, his draft stock has fallen considerably.

Although he may no longer be drafted in the first round, Robinson III is still a first round talent with experience in the best conference in college basketball.

During his two seasons at Michigan, he averaged around 12 points, five rebounds and over 32 minutes per game.

Robinson’s biggest knock is that he sometimes appears to be out of games and makes little to no impact for long stretches. However, he possesses great athletic ability and could turn out to be a future star in the NBA if he steps up his work ethic.

The Pistons desperately need a small forward next season, and Robinson III would come in and immediately compete for the starting job.

If he falls to No. 38, it should be a no brainer for Stan Van Gundy and Jeff Bower.

The 2014 NBA Draft can be seen Thursday, June 26 starting at 7 p.m. on ESPN.
