Spartans Grind out Victory

The Michigan State men’s tennis team defeated No. 74 Wisconsin in Madison, Wis. on Friday, snapping their two-game losing streak.

Michigan State (9-12, 3-5) swept the doubles matches, which usually is a good sign for the Spartans. MSU has a 9-1 record when they win the doubles point.

The Spartans split the six singles matches with wins coming courtesy of Brett Forman, Aaron Pfister, and Harry Jadun.

It was a big day for senior co-captain Pfister, who celebrated his 22nd birthday on Friday and returned to the lineup after missing four games due to injury.

Pfister’s win in singles competition against Jakhongir Jalalov on court three clinched the victory for the Spartans as well.

Pfister is 16-11 this season in singles competition and has won six of his last ten matches.

Michigan State takes on No. 55 Minnesota (10-10, 4-4) on Sunday. First serve is set for 1:00 p.m. ET.
