What is it?
April 11 marks the date for the first annual Music For Minds concert event at Mac’s Bar. The premise of this event is to spread the awareness of mental health issues through a night filled with exciting and electric tunes by some amazing artists. All proceeds will be donated to Justice In Mental Health Organization (JIMHO), a charity in Lansing.
What’s the deal with the owner?
The curation behind Music For Minds stems from my idea of a way to bring the community together to shine a positive light on a universal issue, through the power of music. Mental illness is an extremely important issue in today’s society and with the help of my two roommates, Alex Marx and Miles Hoy, we hope to put a smile on people’s faces and let them know they are not alone.
Who’s playing here?
There will be performances from four bands and one DJ. Brother Son is a rapidly growing band from Detroit that has began to gain lots of traction in the music scene with the sweet melodies and beautiful lyrics they create. The Driven Strings and Vincie D and The Sensations are two very groovy local bands that will make you never want the night to end. Supergroup RE:MARCOBLE, comprised of members from Jestronaught and Left Lane Squatters, will be sure to bring you some super funky music. Lastly, a DJ who is frequently seen playing co-ops by the name KONG, will be laying down his spacey mixes backed by some wild visuals.
